Where on earth did I go for about a month? Sadly, no place fun. I ended up catching a nasty flu that knocked me out for about a week towards the middle of February. After much of the symptoms were gone, I noticed I was still feeling exhausted and had a residual headache. Everyday seemed like a struggle to wake up and move. I reached out to my doctor for an appointment, but she was booked until the end of March. (I really need a new physician, but she’s really good!) I made the appointment, but knew I had to make some changes in order to feel better.
So, I decided to that March was going to be health month! The results I want include: Get blood pressure under control, gain more energy and lose 5 lbs. How I plan I achieve those results were simple:
- Work out at least 4 days a week, but preferably 6 days a week.
- Eat better. And I do mean WAY better!
- Drink water. (I can’t tell you how much I hate drinking water!)
I found this great free app “my fitness pal” and immediately started using it. It took a little while to figure out what my exact calorie intake should be so that I wasn’t starving myself. It has been wonderful. I am learning so much about what is in the food I eat. I also joined the local YMCA on a “join for free” weekend and avoided a $100 start up fee. Yes, the budget-conscious girl is still alive and well! The Y has been definitely interesting. The classes are hit or miss depending on the instructor. I have yet to venture into the equipment room as I have no idea where to even begin on machines. But I love that everyone is friendly! As for drinking water, the struggle is real! I have been at it for 17 days and I have way more energy! My headaches are gone and my blood pressure has been consistently in a healthier range. Best of all, I feel 100% better!
Hopefully, I’ll do a better job at keeping this up-to-date now that I am feeling better!
